Almost WinterNovember 28, 2006
November has been consistently warm and dry, so we have had an extended opportunity to finish numerous fall projects including fencing, draining water lines and weaning calves.

Our calves are about 7 months old now, and they have been with their mothers since birth. We practice side-by-side "fenceline" weaning to minimize stress. The calves and cows can still see, hear and touch each other as they adjust to their independence. Our cows are pregnant with calves they will deliver in April, so it's time for the seven month olds to bond with each other, eat some good hay and snuggle up for some cold winter nights.

All of our cattle have grown thick and long coats for winter. The steers are weighing around 1100 pounds, and ready to go to market in December. If you haven't placed an order for beef yet, now is the time. Send us an email and we will send you the specifics for how to lay in an ample winter supply of the best tasting, healthiest beef you can buy.
